It was my heart's desire to prepare a few Timothy's for the people of NORTH India who are committed Ministers as well as dependant on the Lord for all their needs. God's ministry these days, as in the past, needs such committed workers. Keeping the above in mind, my wife and I were earnestly praying to start a theological training school in North India ever since we were in Himachal Pradesh. I thank God for my beloved wife who always joins hands with me in whatever decisions or steps I take for the betterment of ministry. We did not have any foreseeable financial help yet, we happily continued serving the Lord. When I shared this vision with two Pastors (Pr Joy Thomas and Pr TM Simon], they prayed about it and encouraged me. But to translate my vision into fulfillment, money was still a problem as we needed to hire a place and to buy furniture.

Beginning of the Bible College: For a few years we went on praying and fasting for these needs, and one day, I had clear guidance from God to spend what I had in my hand. We had then no money in our hands, and I told God, the only property we possess at this time is a small apartment. If you permit and provide a buyer we will sell it and spend the money for this cause. Amazingly someone approached us with ready cash and requested to sell the house. Finally, we sold the house, and when I got the money we hired an apartment flat in Abufazal apartment at Vasundra Enclave, Delupra, Delhi, and purchased necessary furniture and utensils. We spent almost all the money and were looking for students. To begin with, one student from Manipur, Bro T. Zam, enrolled, and later a few local pastors and laymen joined. On 17th Jan 1994, in a special meeting presided by Pastor T. M. Simon, the Eastern Theological Institute was inaugurated.

Struggles for students and daily provisions: Even after several days, we had only one student with nine teachers, and I was discouraged and thought of making a mistake by selling the only property we had. A few days later, whatever money remaining, also ran out and an additional struggle to get daily food was added. We looked to God in prayer both for daily food and also for more students. God empowers to triumph: Students and daily provision: Three months later, nine more students enrolled in the first batch. In brief, from that day onwards we began to see God's wonderful provision every time. Nevertheless, our trials and difficulties were not yet over. We were asked to move out from that apartment as neighbors' complained of noise while praying and worshiping, a common problem most of the servants of God face here. But God provided another accommodation in a place called NOIDA, Sector -23. When the same problem arose in the new place, we moved to another place in Sector 12. Meanwhile, we had the problems of finance to pay monthly rent and to buy daily food provisions, Often there were no vegetables and rations. Whenever there was no food, we looked to God in compulsory fasting. In certain cases, students had taken initiative to collect the old newspapers and gunny bags to sell them to get some money. On many occasions, some students who received some money from their parents for personal expenses had brought to us for buying necessary items. One day when the ETIS kitchen had nothing and we were earnestly praying for provision, amazingly on that day some visitors came from (Bjorn Lenberg & Team ) Sweden by their caravan. As they reached our place we were in a dilemma as we had nothing to offer to our guests, but it was incredible that they had brought a lot of food items, like sausage, rice biscuits and even water from Sweden to give us. We embraced one another and praised the Lord for this provision. This incident then had opened the eyes of ETI students and staff. ETIS stands to equip people to reach the unreached people with practical experiences and we thank God that His enabling us to go through various experiences have given a great influence on the lives of ETIS students, staff, and faculty. Many have learned and were encouraged and inspired by this ministry and even started a similar ministry.

As we went on praying for our own place to continue the training program, God showed us land in New Ashok Nagar. Without seeing any foreseeable funds, we gave an advance amount for the land and requested three months' time. Meanwhile, we requested all ETIS students, church members, and staff to pray for it. Lord prepared the hearts of the students, staff, and faculties to pray earnestly and as a result of the prayers, we received the total amount from a man of God, Bro. Alec Chew, a Chinese Businessman from Singapore, and made the deal before the due date. With this, we all learned that nothing can stop God's work, and faith grows when we live by it. Meanwhile, lots of hostilities and troubles arose, but the hand of God has been with us. By the grace and the abundant mercy of God, we are today celebrating the 27th anniversary.

ETIS has now many ministries developed, and several lives have seen the light and blessed through it. Hundreds of ministers are in the mission fields and so far a number of churches have been planted. Many more ministries and activities are still being established. We thank God for our graduates who are ministering in India and outside India.
